Thanksgiving Day | Thanksgiving Wine Pairing

Give Thanks this Holiday Season

In the past, we have celebrated with our annual Thanksgiving Buffet or our special plated Thanksgiving Dinner. This year, were are doing a special Family Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go.

Our guests across New Mexico have always supported and celebrated with us on these special days, and we are grateful for each one of you who has included us as part of your celebrations.

Thanksgiving Holiday Closure

We have decided to close our locations on Thanksgiving Day. This will allow our hard-working employees to enjoy the day with their families.

Now more than ever, our employees have continually shown up, worked hard, and dedicated themselves to the passion and excellence we strive for. Every day, the experience we are so proud to offer our guests is because of our employees.

We are grateful to each of our employees for the work they do. We are also grateful to all of our guests and wine club members for your support, understanding, and continued patronage.

3 Suggestions for Thanksgiving Wine Pairing

We hope that Thanksgiving will be happy, healthy, and memorable for each of you and your families. To help make Thanksgiving the best it can be, we are offering our suggestions for three wines for a Thanksgiving wine pairing experience we think you’ll love!

A lot of different variables go into what makes a perfect Thanksgiving wine pairing. For our picks, we chose three very different wines. Each one has strengths depending on what you’ll be serving. Also, keep in mind that personal preference also plays a role. When in doubt, drink what you like. But, also don’t be afraid to try something new.

1. D.H. Lescombes Heritage Series Chardonnay

This special wine is a result of many years of perfecting our farming, winemaking techniques, and oak implementation. We use our own highly aromatic Chardonnay grapes from New Mexico’s largest family-owned vineyard.

The flavor profile leans to a lightly creamy texture with notes of bread, almonds, soft minerals, and oak. Because of the processes used to craft this wine, it is highly palatable and perfect with Thanksgiving holiday foods. Secondly, due to its palatable and food-friendly nature, it makes a good all-around pair.

2. D.H. Lescombes Limited Release Renaissance

Our Heritage Renaissance is continually one of our guest and employee favorites. Because this wine strikes a nice balance between velvety fruit and spiced tannins, it is a nice choice for Thanksgiving meals. Secondly, if your holiday meal consists of ham, this red wine creates a pair that can’t be beaten. Since it is a remarkably food-friendly wine, it’ll also play nicely with the rest of your holiday menu plans.

3. D.H. Lescombes Heritage Bellissimo

Talk about a perfect celebration wine! Our Bellissimo makes a perfect pair not only because it’s sweet and bubbly. In addition, Bellissimo is ideal because if you celebrate a New Mexico-style Thanksgiving, it makes a perfect accompaniment. What’s a “New Mexico-style Thanksgiving,” you ask? For starters, try red chile on your mashed potatoes. Or secondly, take it all the way and have tamales and enchiladas!

No matter if you are serving a “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner, or introducing a more regional tradition, Bellissimo will fit in very nicely.

In Conclusion

When it comes to wine pairing, it’s an art and a science. There are general guidelines for enjoying the best pairings. But, when it comes down to personal preferences, drink what you like. You can browse our online wine store to see what might fit your taste. No matter what wine and food you choose, we send our wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!

Supporting LOCAL FOOD BANKS WITH A WINE RELEASE PARTY

Combining the release of one of our top-tier wines and some specially-paired bites, we are planning an evening to delight guests across the state of New Mexico—and using it as an opportunity to support a worthy cause; to fund local food banks.

The new wine release, D.H. Lescombes Limited Release 2014 Petit Verdot, is one of the Lescombes family’s favorite varietals due to its consistent fruit production and bold, hardy character.

“We mature each of our Limited Release wines on French oak for at least one year,” explains Melissa Landeros,
Winemaker at St. Clair. “In this case, we aged for three years on oak and an additional year in the bottle which
resulted in a softer, well-balanced wine.”

Release party guests will be presented with a glass of the newest release alongside wine-inspired hors-d’oeuvres selected by St. Clair Winery Chefs. Guests will also have access to purchase from the limited supply at the event, ahead of the public release scheduled for February 15th.

“Our D.H. Lescombes Limited Release wines are a selection of the best varietals grown and crafted in New Mexico,” noted Melissa Landeros, Winemaker. “The entire process—in the vineyard, in the barrel, and into the bottle—is controlled and monitored carefully to ensure it reaches its full potential.”

The admission fee of $15 per person is being donated in full to local food banks in New Mexico including Roadrunner Food Bank, Echo Food Bank in Farmington, and The Food Depot in Santa Fe. All three non-profit organizations are focused on the goal of ending hunger in New Mexico. St. Clair is encouraging guests to reserve their spot by purchasing tickets in advance since space is limited.

Supporting Habitat For Humanity With Wine Release Party

Combining the release of one of our most highly-acclaimed wines and some specially-paired bites, we are planning an evening to delight our guests.

“We appreciate the work that Habitat for Humanity does to enrich the lives of the families they partner with,” – Florent Lescombes, President  “We’re proud to be working with them.”

The new wine release, D.H. Lescombes Limited Release 2014 Cabernet Franc, happens to be one of the Lescombes family’s most highly-coveted varietals—and for good reason.

“We received the top award, the Sweepstakes Award, at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition back in 2009 for our Cabernet Franc,” recalls Melissa Landeros, Winemaker. “It’s a prestigious competition and to be awarded as the best red wine out of over 4,500 total entries was huge for us.”

Our release party guests will be presented with a glass of the newest release alongside wine-inspired hors-d’oeuvres selected by our chefs, including pot roast sliders, skewered herb shrimp, garden casserole, milk chocolate truffles, a station of cured meats and cheeses, and more. Guests will also have access to purchase from the limited supply at the event, ahead of the public release slated for August 20th.

The admission fee of $15 per person is being donated in full to the Habitat for Humanity’s local chapter. We encourage guests to reserve your spot by purchasing tickets in advance since space is limited.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. The admission fee of $15 per person is being donated in full to the New Mexico Autism Society, based in Albuquerque, with local chapters in many communities statewide.

“All funds stay in New Mexico and are used to support our mission of making a difference in the lives of those affected by autism,” stated Sarah Baca, Executive Director of New Mexico Autism Society. “We serve locally through legislative advocacy, educational workshops, first responder training, social outings and support groups.”

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by repetitive behavior patterns, difficulties with communication and social interaction and is often accompanied by sensory irregularities. Today, 1-in-68 are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder-or ASD. It’s often referred to as an ‘invisible disability’ since a person’s physical appearance is typically unaffected. This disability and many others like it can get in the way of day to day life and so luckily for these people there is a lot of support online. For example, many can access a disability insurance quote online to find out if they qualify for this support and if they do, it will enable them to live a much more comfortable life and not feel chained down by their disability.

“As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum, I’m extremely proud we are able to support this cause,” said Daniel Gonzales, Creative Content Manager. “Not only will this help raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding autism, it will also help fund programs that benefit those in New Mexico who live with ASD.”

Named after his late wife, Danielle, and himself, D.H. Lescombes has since been passed down to his sons, Florent and Emmanuel, the sixth-generation of the winemaking family. Along with the new vintage also comes an elegant new black and gold label.

St. Clair Event Center Hosts “Yappy Hour” to Raise Money For Deming Animal Guardians

DEMING – Rain or shine, Deming Animal Guardians held another successful Yappy Hour fundraiser hosted by St. Clair Winery in Deming this past weekend. Rain didn’t end up being a problem since St. Clair Winery offered its indoor tasting and event center.

“There was a little indoor dancing, pledging and shopping and a little outdoor visiting and tasting happening. It worked out perfectly.” says event coordinator Debbie Troyer.

The event brought in just under $1,400 to help support DAG’s no-kill rescues and spay/neuter programs. Money was raised through pledges taken in a contest that bid Crystal Pena of HELP-NM against Will Jansen of Mimbres Hospital. Each competed for a $100 prize to be given to their charity of choice. Congratulations to the winner, Crystal Pena, for playing along in her kitty costume and raising funds for Luna County’s Early Childhood Coalition.
